Block Heater Question
I read somewhere that block heaters on old 6.9's can cause the blocks to crack. But Im not sure about mine because it is a 1987.
Any ideas? It will make life 10xs easier with cold starting. |
Yes, it has a risk of block failure, I believe there were preventatives you can do to lessen the likelyhood, but I do not know what they are

In 1985 they made the casting thicker around where the block heater is to prevent the cracking problem.

Your clear there Zak ... i bee pluggin mine in every night when its below 40* for 5 years now ... no cracks here ...( except my neighbor ... think he smokes the stuff ) ..LOL:s:
