What are your thoughts? I'm currently sanding down my truck as it has a lot of surface rust, and flaking to it; However, I am going to primer before I finish lay down the color coats, will be a gloss white hopefully it comes out well

While I am not of fan of his rust repair method, I have to admit the paint looked pretty good. I may talk my friend into giving that a try as his truck is currently 3 different colors and he is always poor.

I'm not doing it because of rust I already took care of it. It just looks like garbage since someone rattle canned over the original paint

Misread I didn't like his method either

Just finished sanding the truck this morning, first used 50 grit and then went to 120, you can feel no scratches, very smooth. I had to fix a large dent on the driver front fender, thing previous owner hit a parking lot pole. Now it's time for a tack cloth, then onto the primer

The primer that I'm going to use is rustoleums white, it also acts as a rust inhibitor, and since someone decided to paint over rust, it will add good protection to my paint job. Was $8 a quart from the Home Depot. Now just have to track down a gallon of rustoleum Gloss White

As far as tack clothing goes, I used anti-static wipes they are used in the hazardous chemical rooms at one of the Intel construction fabs, they definitely picked every spec of dust that was left

Just finished the first coat, the primer is way to thick for the guns, going to reduce at 75%-25% in the morning for the second coat

I cleaned the guns over night, and reduced the primer 70 - 30 with mineral spirits. It sprayed on incredibly and filled in the low spots. It only has 2 coats since time got away from me, in a couple weeks I'm going to put down about 5 more coats of primer and 6 coats of finish
