You want to take out a powerstroke so you can put a IDI in it?

Exactly what i'm thinking. Its like saying i have too much power or my car is too fast or my tv is too big. That wouldn't make sense. i owned a 6.9 and 7.3 powerstroke and now a 6.0 i couldn't go back to an idi as my main truck. if i had the money for one to go get groceries or something sure i'd get another idi. As for the practical aspect of it i believe the 7.3 idi's probably wouldn't be terrible to put in. you'd just need to make the dash work with that engine which shouldn't be too bad. other than that it shouldn't be too bad if your good at electrical

or the easy way and keep the powerstroke. if you really want an engine that isn't electronically controlled just sell the powerstroke and buy one. financially much better and easier

It maybe be easier, but some people don't like to do that. They want to satisfying feeling of success, I know it I do haha. Your point stands to reason, and if it would be a good idea just to purchase a mechanical vehicle

I bought a 93 with a idi and a ats turbo installed, the body is trash, and so is the trans. I started to do a 12 valve conversion but a 12 valve around here is rather expensive. I picked the idi up for 800 bucks.don't get me wrong I love the powerstroke, it has the h2e hypermax turbo, intercooler, injector, and ecm.I just can't bring myself to pay 7000 for a rebuild.

A rebuild kit is 1000, find a different shop to do it your getting screwed.

If you sell it what injectors does it have?

If my number 8 cylinder didn't need to be sleeved it would only be 3500, but they said it will need some more machine work.I'm not for sure what kind or brand they are, I bought the truck from a old hotshot company and he said it had everything hypermax sold for it.

Why not pick up a used PSD engine? You can get a good one for less then 1500-1000
