84 6.9 will not crank with key
Hi, I'm new to this forum so bear with me. I have an 84 f250 with a 6.9 with banks turbo and a four speed. Recently it just stopped starting with key. No click or anything. I've since replaced solenoid on fender and ignition switch and battery cables. Batteries test fine. Today I pulled the column loose again and checked continuity on my red wire that goes to solenoid. I suspected clutch safety switch but this wire has continuity only when clutch is pushed. That should eliminate that right? It's my only rig at the moment and I can't figure it out. I put a button on it for now but because I can't think of anything else to do. Please help

the cam in the sterring column is broken ... whith the cover off the column you will see the rod that goes down to the switch on the lower portion of the column .... take a small pair of vise grips and click them on that little rod .... then push down twards floor ... teuck should turn over ... if not your column switch is possibly shot ... or a push button momentary switch is a good idea .... I did that ... cheeper and really F's with theifs too ..... ..... keep posted will check up on ya tommrow

No, i checked that. I put a button on it. Also i determined the starter was bad. Changed that today and headed for home, went a few miles and lost all electrical power. Just like turning key off. I found the small black wire to starter broke, fixed that, tried again and nothing. Fusible link perhaps?

Yep, sorry i havent got back. The whole thing going dead was my own stupidity. When i changed my starteri managed to lay my positive cable on the manifold. It melted and shorted out. Ruined my batteries too. Fixed that and away i went. By putting a new end on my small starter wire, i seem to have a working key again also. I feel stupid telling this but everyone screws up sometimes. Thanks for your help
