Default lack/loss of power, Help please

Ok so I have searched all over looking for my answer and cant seem to find the right one.

I have a 1994 7.3L IDI Turbo with the E4OD, I just bought it a few days ago and love it so far but I feel it has a big lack of power, also kind of feels like it misfires.

So today i put $20 in my rear tank (Iv run both tanks) and when I left the pump and took a right all of the sudden the truck seemed to come to life like some one turned up a chip. I let off the gas and got on it again and felt great. So i pulled into a parking spot and it was kind of chugging/missng/hard rough idle for a sec and then went back to its gutless self.

it doesnt blow any black smoke, very small ammount of blue when at idle or letting off the gas. has no problems starting cold or hot. It has a a ton of new parts, straight pipe but still has the crappy flat down pipe. what i cant seem to figure out is why I have a lack of power and then today just for a minute it came to life and its back to gutless.

I hope I covered all needed info, any help would be great.

Thanks, Chaz

Is there another one aside from the one under the hood infront of the turbo? That one was changed 2 months ago. I dont have a problem changing it again but dont want to if not needed

Im not 100 percent sure where the fuel filters are in the IDI engines, but the fuel filter a good place to start when diagnosing a lack of power. lack of power is generally Fuel, air or an engine problem but we will not assume that untill we have checked the simple things first. I would at least pull the fuel filter and drain it into a clean bucket and see what comes out of it. If its dirty then replace it, you can also check you air filter and see if its plugged if its is then change it also. A semi plugged fuel filter will cause poor perfomance a clogged filter will cause it to run horribly, The way you described it running would point me torwards a fuel issue. If you do not have enough fuel making it to the injection pump then your truck will throw a little fit untill it has enough.

yeah Air intrusion in these engines is a real BIT$% ... I have done my fuel lines, but before all that .... Injection pump, injectors , sending units lift pump.... all suggestions that were viable at the time ... it was air getting into the fuel/water separator , had a small crack in the fuel line between the tank switch and the lift pump.... now for a different reason I'm doing my HG's .....

The air filter was NASTY black. cleaned it and seemed to help a tiny bit. will check the fuel filter tomorrow. I will have to look it up but I wonder if theres a screen/filter in the tanks. I found 3 of my injectors have small leaks.

leaking inj. return lines will make it stutter for sure........ and of course the fuel filter or air in it ..
