Question 94 F-250 7.3 IDI Crank no start

So let me preface this thread by saying that I am a newbie in the diesel world. A little history to the problem: I drove my truck to the house with no problems, loaded it up ( moving family ), got back in and all it did was "click", went to the store in the other vehicle and bought a starter and relay, put those in (had a minor spark issue "disconnect battery dummy"). Got back in and now all it does is crank (really well mind you). Getting little to no smoke out of the tailpipe. Will start and run on ether. If I shut it down and then try to restart immediately it will, however if it sits for more than 10 minutes it will have the same no start problem. I can assume at this point that it is fuel related but, like I said I am new to the diesel world. I have read in other threads about a "weak" Injector pump and found out that they are VERY expensive, can they be rebuilt? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a possible air intrusion into the fuel system since you can start it immediately, but not after it sits. There's a Schrader valve on the fuel filter housing where you can bleed off any air while cranking. I'd suggest replacing the fuel return lines if you haven't already. It's a cheap kit and very easy to DIY. The injection pump can be rebuilt, just find a shop that knows what they're doing. It will need to be timed once rebuilt and back on the truck.

So I found a leak at the main feed line to the IP. The leak I believe is coming from (I think) the connector to the IP. I looked at all of the return lines and they all appear to be fine. I am going to hope that if I replace that line, it will fix the problem. On a separate note. What would cause the WTS "Wait to Start" light from not staying on like it has in the past.

Is the engine still warm(ran recently) when the light shuts off sooner? In my old 85 6.9, when it was still warm is wouldn't even cycle the glow plugs so the light wouldn't turn on.

If that's not it, I'd check through your glow plug system. May need a new relay or controller. And as known with many vehicles, the factory dash stuff(gauges, dummy lights) can be unreliable so some people wire an led light into the dash and hook it up separate of the factory wiring harness, the see how long the GPs are really on for.
