Hey there guys and gals, I had my starter go out recently. It's a 1987 Ford short bus with a 6.9 liter na engine. There was no grinding before, and the flywheel looked great when I swapped them. I installed the new reman. starter today and it is grinding but not engaging the flywheel. I've seen on other cars it grind and start, I've seen it spin and not engage the flywheel, but never this. I'm going to try and shim it but figured I'd ask anyone on here if they had this problem before. Could it need to be shimmed so badly that it's actually going PAST the flywheel?! Thanks in advance!
