Default turbo

I have a 1990 f250 7.3 diesel its non turbo but i really want a truck with a turbo. I like the truck i have but its kinda a dog. Should i get a turbo for the 7.3 idi i have now or can i drop a early powerstroke motor in it or would i have to replace the trany as well, what would be the best route??

I have heard you can take a turbo off of a '94 and it will hook right up. But you better check that with some of these diesel geniuses on here first.
