Im a new owner of a 98 12 valve 4x4 5 speed, and I'm hearin some odd clanking sounds from under the truck after I drive it (doesnt happen at idle). I know the truck is loud as it is but bein a new owner I'm just wondering if i should be worried about it all.

 

need to hear it, these engines are very noisy.
just my old trick, get up to speed, then let it coast, if noise goes away, your good, if noise stays, you might have a problem.

 

Is it the engine, or the chassis making noise?

 

are you sure its not the throw out bearing

 

Could be any number of thing! We need a little more info first

 

My '01 does it too, I've had 2expierenced people hear it can;t quite figure it out,it does go away when you let off throttle
