Default propane and egt

just wonderin if anybody has propane on their trucks and did it increase or decrease egt? i've heard it can do either of the two. also what mods are on with your propane kits? and which kit would be the best for just using it to get better fuel milage? some of them run off of vaccum and some of them like the MSD kit are computerized i think.

Depends on which system you use and what percent of mixture you run but when properly set up you will see a slight decrease in EGT's with most systems. If you set up to use propane to race you will see normal or higher temps. Contrary to popular belief propane DOES NOT increase fuel mileage it just increases your driving range and adds more power. Hope this helps.

Also has a tendancy to burn up pistons. Propane was the big craze when it first came out but died out pretty quick once people used it for a while.

Just happen to think, for dropping EGT's you aren't maybe thinking of the water/methanol injection system are you. It will do a good job dropping EGT's for short duration overheating problems.

Is this because the propane is used as fuel, like having a bigger tank, this is the only way that I can see it not increasing your fuel mileage but allowing your driving range to increase. I do know that the ads say that you increase your MPG, so you are saying that they are wrong?

I am running the Snow stage 2 w/m and I have seen no egt decrease. But I did gain 63 hp at the rears. I actually put it on just for cooling and as I said it didnt work. I now run a two stage nitrous express kit and I love it. Makes a pile of power and cooled that little hx40 to 1100 degrees even when I over-boosted it and was running 58psi.

Sorry for the delay. For some reason I am not getting notifications from this forum.

The nitrous kit is really simple. I am running a shark nozzle and using both solenoids to deliver nitrous. I have both of them armed separatly (sp?) and both on hobbs switches. Only one is on a WOT switch. The first stage is set to come on a 10psi and the other comes in at about 20psi and WOT. The first one spools it all up and the second gets you where your going + it cools like there is no tomorrow.

If you have smoke that wont clean up at full boost a nitrous is benifical if you dont have smoke you wont get much of a gain if any.
