Why don't more of you guys have Espar heaters or something? If I lived anywhere that got much below 0 often I would have one.

You dont need em...plugged in is normally all it takes, for me, I keep mine running, but not everybody agrees that this is good for them. I work in the oilpatch and our trucks run steady for 12-16 hrs a day...I have run mine all night at times if its going to be real cold. I have the luxury right now of being able to keep mine plugged in, in a garage.

Besides, very expensive...about 2500 bucks up here...

I didn't realize they cost that much, but compared to fuel cost of idling for 12+ hrs.

Ya but in the long run... cummins do good on fuel at idle IIRC Dmax's use ~ .5 gal/hr.

Doc, get the battery warmer blankets too. Sounds like you've got bad batteries.

I think thats the problem. three years ago I put in Group 31 Commerical batteries. 1000 cca each and ungraded my battery cables to 2/0 welding cable. I did this so I wouldnt have problems in the future...
