Seized Up The NV4500...
Well, on my way to work this morning I shifted into 4th gear after just a mile of driving, it started grinding horribly, and binding up as I moved. I pulled over, looked underneath the truck thinking it was a busted u-joint or something, but nope. Pulled it forward to get it off to the shoulder and it was binding bad and grinding like stones in a crusher. Went back after I cooled down (a friend picked me up) and fired the truck up and tried to get it into gear, as soon as I let the clutch out it would stall the engine. Now I wasn't revving it, I'd like to keep my clutch, and I didn't want to risk hurting it more.
Now I gotta figure out if I wanna buy a used tranny and hope its better, or take it to AAMCO and have them deal with it.

I would deffinatley find somebody that knows exactly how to work on these NV4500. We are at the very top of they're usefull weight rating so there is no room for error in rebuilding it. I would also suggest contacting Dan the Gear man at http://www.quad4x4.com/ And get some heavier duty parts to rebuild it with. In particular the main shaft.
