Default My first Diesel....I need tips, please!

Hi there,
I just got my first diesel, it's a 97 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 5.9 with 118K, truck is pretty much stock I guess. The previous owner just did exhaust on it, that's all. I just put new tires on it 265 LT 75 R16 with 55 Lbs front and 80 lbs on rear.
I will be towing a 200 Gal. tank and I need to know what I should do the get the best MPG on this truck. So far the bed is empty and is doing like 20 mpg driving cool with a max speed of 65/70 mph.
I'm in need of tips! My budget sucks but, I will do whatever for a better mpg I guess (like anyone else). Thanking you on advance.

You can put on a better flow air filter so the motor can breath better. And welcome to diesel bombers.

Might seem dumb but when I first got my truck no one ever told me about the fuel filter.....change it with your oil (might be over kill but they're cheap) ...mine was clogged up and left me thinking I had serious troubles. i tow my 36 Foot boat and still get 16-18 depending on where I drive it

Keep it at or under 2 grand to achieve the best MPG's. You can do some tweaking on the pump to advance timing which can increase your MPG's.

I would take care of the KDP before anything else.

I would put on a better air filter, that will hopefully give you a little better mileage and to second laxblastin, check out the fuel filter as well. There are a lot of cheap things you can do to help the mileage and a lot of more pricey things that will help out too

DO not use a K&M air filter they let in to much fine dust.

BHAF air filter, fuel filter, high ram intake horn, and most importantly control your RFG! (Right foot governor)
