Question torn between a CR an a 12v...questions, comments, concerns...could use some help here

well folks ive came to a time in my life when i find my self weighin all the options. some sound good, some are just dreams, but i find myself at the end of every long drawn out brainstorm session asking (myself) "if i make this decision will i be happy with it"... let me give you some background...i was recently laid off...i have a truck payment on one of my trucks..it is small...but a burden in these tough economic times. my lovely wife is just able to make ends meet and ive been losing my mind sitting at home for at least two months now. tryin to rake in any odd jobs i can. an i swear i must've applied at every place i here is hiring 2-3 times it seems like..but cant seem to ketch a break. with all this in mind i would like to discuss a trade offer that was recently brought to the table...

-THE TRADE-
the gentleman has a 95 12v dodge regular cab 4x4. NO RUST. built tranny (no reciept) power windows power locks etc... the truck is burnt orange. an looks top flight... he SAYS there are NO mechanical issues with it...and no engine mods except for pump turned up.. as it is rounding out 195xxx... he is also offering a 2005 yfz450 that is bored and jetted with APPROX 200 hrs. and possibly some cash my way.

-my truck- is the truck in my sig.(pics available on my profile) it was a southern truck so NO RUST and has 168xxx. it runs like a dream. only downsides are it needs a ball joint, the throw out bearing is chattering, and one rear rotor is pretty shot. ... BUT i love my truck. an part of the reason im so hesitant to trade it TO ANYBODY is because i only have 10g in it RIGHT NOW. an i KNOW the likely hood of me finding another CR DUALLY like it an ONLY having that much in it is SLIM-TO-NONE. (AT LEAST ANYTIME SOON)

however my thought was this. i could pay off the remainder of my loan(or right close to it) by selling the quad. and mean time i would still have a paid truck that i would enjoy to get me from a to b. and once i get some extra money to straightin out some cosmetic things. i could sell the truck that currently has the loan...(02 sierra 2wd w/ 35xxx mi) as i dont use it much anymore... an get ANOTHER diesel as is my plan anyway...

-------
pay my loan an down size NOW. or hold off...im just tryin to figure out if the juice is worth the squeeze. so im enlisting my fellow bombers. i need all your comments, opinions, and ensight. and any smart remarks you may have as well haha... thanks in advance yall

don't trade. ride it out and you'll be happy with the truck you have now.

thanks for the input guys. my problem is i AGREE WITH YOU BOTH. haha payments do suck. and this perticular 12v is a very highly maintained truck. but i think if i hold off i could have a nice 12v once i get away from the loan.. or if i can manage a repeat of how i got my truck another CR ..its just hard NOW tryin to make ends meet. i know we can get through...sometimes its just hard to scrape the bottom when theres away to sacrifice some things an put your self back in a comfort zone...haha thanks again... KEEP THEM COMIN!!!

I'd go for the 12 valve, a bit more unique and the fact that you don't owe anyone anything after you sell the quad will help you sleep at night. At least I would!

MasterLow is right. If it's as tight as you say, you gotta do what's best for your family and your sleep. I know it's a tough call for sure! We've all been there one way or another. Man I could go on and on about cars that I've sacraficed but the fact of the matter is they are just cars, they can be replaced. Good luck!

Oh, BTW, a wise old man told me once that there isn't any right or wrong decisions in life. There are just choices. Make your choices to the best of your ability with the info you have and don't look back. No regrets; they make you who you are as a person.

depending on the condition of the 02 sirra you owe on, couldnt you just sell it or hand the payments over (depending on how much you owe)? then you could keep your common rail and be out of the payment.
