Default 12v in a 05

My uncle dropped a valve in his 2005 CR, it damaged the head beyond repair and scratched up the #1 cylinder. The stealership of course wants $13k to fix it. However, he has a buddy that is basically giving him a 12v from a 98, I'm not sure if it is 170hp or 215hp. his 05 is a 2wd with a 48re. What would be required to drop in the 12v? Also what would it take to push it up from stock to 300-350hp?

yeah, modifying the electronics was my biggest concern about it working. Would probably a #8 plate and Bosch 370s dp it for the fueling, and then a hybrid 35/40 turbo?

He should kill the kdp in the process right?

Yes, very easy to fix the kdp when the engine is on an engine stand.

Make sure he uses red loctite. also, loctite all the bolts that hold the timing case on the truck (I believe there are 8 in total, iirc). The bolts can back out and cause as much damage as the KDP.

I would get the engine swapped in and working and worry about the performance stuff later.

They do any smog testing down there? Won't be legal for the road if they do.

03-04 had limited tipm control and the 04.5 to 07 got real loaded with it, my dads trucks on it 5th tipm from just using downloaders they suck i talked with a bunch of guys form many diesel shops and what not you will need to re wire a dash and gauges and much more best bet is to find a common rail or rebuild yours ive been down that road i built mine and wouldnt have done it any other way

The only electronics on a 12 valve is to work the trans. I have a 98 12 valve and I was having trouble with the trans shifting and it turned out to be the ECM, I bought a rebuilt one out of Florida and it works fine now.
