Default Custom Dodges

I hope this is in the correct location. If not, would a moderator kindly move it to the right place.

I've been vascillating between the Ford F250/350 and the Dodge as my 1st diesel truck. Both have thier good and bad, but for the most part, it seems the cummins is the better of the two when it comes down to the engine. I hear a lot of trans issues, but those (IMO) are easier for me to address.

I've done a lot of searching, both here and elsewhere and just haven't found the answers to my questions.

My questions are:

1) I understand that a lot of people prefer the interior of the F-Series Fords to the Dodge. Has anyone done anything to make your Dodge more comfortable/custom as far as seating, and such?

2) I really dislike looking at tire/wheel rim combos that stick out of the wheelwell like a skateboard on crack.
In some places it's even illegal and I don't need/want the hassle!

So,
Does anyone have pics of their Dodge using taller tire/wheel setup combos that remain under the fenderline (at least for the most part) or alternatively, flare setups and wider tire/rims?

Thanks in advance

What year Dodges are u lookin at? I've had second and third gens and find the interiors are perfectly comfortable for me. As far as wheel combos that don't stick out you just have to maintain the correct wheel backspace as the factory rims and on a Dodge that 5.5 inches. But like you said a small set of wheel flares will cover them up and add some looks to the truck as well.

Thank you.

Not being that familiar with the Dodge generation breakdowns, I guess I'm looking at 99+, the latter mody style.

I love the old style Powerwagons and Ramchargers, but I need something a little more up to date and comfortable for longer hauls should the job dictate.

Thanks also for the backspacing information

I guess it seems most I've seen have the tire/wheel combo hanging out the sides and I was just looking for pics of some tucked under the wheelwells. Maybe some with taller rather than just wider tires.

As for the interiors, it's to each thier own and I certainly don't mean any disrespect to anyones rig.

I've been in and out of both Dodge and Fords cabs for the last month or so and seem to be more partial to the Ford interior. A bit less spartan (although there's that much more crap to break!) and it "seems" a little substantial.

But all I've read about the Dodge interiors has been from the Ford crew so natually, I expect it to be biased.

Looking for some input from the Mopar crowd and some ideas on how to make the Dodge interior a little more comfortable. I'll use the word "Plush" but don't hold it against me. Can't think of another word at the moment.

Thanks again.

I find both my 97 and 07 Dodge interiors are just fine. My 97 is pretty plain but I don't personally need all the extras that my 07 came with but as for comfort its pretty nice. My 07 has leather and it pretty comfortable especially since I have the captain chairs and don't have the flip up console/middle seat. The only problem that I have run into interior wise is how cheesy my AC panel is. I have the dual climate zone and it looks like an AC panel out of a older vehicle with the slides, I think the engineers at dodge could have done better there.

dodge break down 89-93 are 1st gens, 94-02 are 2nd gens, and 03+ are 3rd gens. all three generations have a couple big engine differes, like 1st gens the first couple years they were non intercooled, but had one the last couple. 2nd gens, 94-98 had the 12 valve motors, and 98.5 -02 was the 24 valve vp44 trucks. 3rd gens had the 5.9 commonrail motor from 03-07, and the 6.7 common rail from 07.5+ and they are the trucks with the dpf in the exhasut.

on the interiors, u can replace the gauge cluster, all the dash molding to a wood finish, u can swap out seats for aftermarket ones.

here is a pic of my dodge with some 285-70-17s

i just sold my 2001 Dodge 2500 Cummins with 16" stock wheels and 255/85/16 tires. That's the tire you're looking at if you want the height and tuck. Take a look at it in my profile pictures. I can send you more if need be.
