Default AC Temp

Does your Air Conditioning keep up in 100 degree heat?

When I am moving, it isn't too bad... but when I am stopped the air blowing from the vents isn't as cold. Is this normal?

My '99 was doing that for about a year, then it started overheating in 'round town' conditions. I live in Las Vegas, and 110 plus days are not unusual. Last week I pulled the radiator out and was absolutely astounded at how clogged the exterior was. From the back it looked fine, but the front had a circle of crud corresponding to the outline of the fan that was completely obstructed. Ten minutes with the pressure washer cleaned it up fine, and now the air blows ice cold even stopped in crappy Las Vegas traffic in 105 degree heat.
Pulling the radiator is easy, and all it will cost you is some anti-freeze.
Cheers,
Jim

Maybe I'll pop the hood and see if I need to clean out the butterfly splat from the radiators...

The problem area is between the intercooler and the radiator. I attempted to clean mine without removing the radiator and had no luck at all. Hope you do better.

The clogging issue is caused by the blow by bottle. THEY MUST BE RELOCATED.

If you can get some gauges on your truck, and a gauge in one of the vents I'll let you know if it's in spec!

cut the water flow to the heater core and that will drop the temps considerably

What is the blow by bottle you are talking about?

I saw this on another forum, where they cut the lines and inserted valves... I would worry that would cause the coolant in the heater exchanger to get stagnant and maybe cause problems?
