How limiting is the short bed

Bought the wife an 05 sb quad 4x4 3500. Puleed 5th wheel great but when making sharp turns had to be very careful due to the shoeter than normal bed. My gooseneck stock trailer was no problem due to the tapered nose. I was always nervous about making sharp turns with the 5th wheel because I did not want to get the trailer nose into the cab. They make slider 5th wheel hitches but I already had a B&W 5th wheel hitch.

Relay 93. Is your truck lifted or stock. I am looking two trucks right now. One is a Mega cab 4x4 with a 4" lift. The top of the bed rail is 60" and the bed is 40". The other truck is stock 3500 4x4. The top of the bed rail is 57" and 37 bed.
I'm afraid the mega cab truck with a 4" lift will be too high. The 3500 is already 3" higher then my ford I used to pull it with.
Oh, I forgot to mention that this will be used to pull a fifth wheeler. the bottom of the king pin is 42" which is low according to sources.
Anybody pulling 5th wheelers out there with a lifted truck. I don't want the sled look!
