Default 1996 dodge 2500 cummins

I'm selling my truck and know it's more valuable than what carmax would offer me, or the sales geeks at the dealerships. It has 96,000 original miles. Can anyone tell me how to get an honest evaluation so I can post it for sale? A local truck accessory shop has already expressed interest. I've used it only to haul horses to shows. thanks!

you might want to explain if it is stock or what upgrades you have one to it...

Check out KBB.com Remember that aftermarket accessories really don't add a whole lot to the re-sale value of a truck.

Milage doesnt factor into this much - for the most part, the main factor when determining value is the age of the vehicle.

Sad but true, you can have a clean and bombed truck and the dealer can care less. Nine times outa ten a vehicle older than a 99 will be sent to auction asap so he's not going to give you more than market trade in value for it. Even when your selling it outright, a normal guy won't want to pay more for it then he has to and also when he goes to get a loan from the bank they are only going to give once again market value for it. Guys like us that know what a truck like that in great shape is worth are few and far between. Another thing to look at is with the market the way it is and diesel is going to be killer again this summer, it makes these trucks even less desirable. Trucks are and always will be a **** poor investment plain and simple. My 2 pennies....

Even if you have a completely bombed truck - it does not increase value. Same goes for fancy stereos etc. It doesnt matter what accessories you have - its still a 96.

Yep, it's completely stock, no added anything other than the stereo system. I've already bought my new 3500 cummins, so this one's for sale. Anyone intested in a '96 cummins, 96k miles, auto, long bed, 2wd? I'll be parking it out on the highway this week and offer it for sale. We're in Texas. I've got picks available.

Kbb.com Says in excellent condition private party value which is the highest is 6500.
Nada.com Says Clean retail on the truck is 8500.

So anywhere in between there is your goal. But being a 2wd reg cab, I dunno it personally wouldn't be my first choice. In Texas though I dunno.
