New to DB. Need an answer on Diffs
Forgive me as this topic has been discussed multiple times but I still am not 100% for sure.
2 Questions:
1. Do I need a Limited Slip additive for both front and rear or for just the rear diff
2. On the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500, those gaskets look like they can be reused. But I was at the dealer today and they say they just toss them and use a gasket maker.
I just changed the oil on the rear diff today and can't say that I am a fan of the gasket maker. Would like to use the gasket if it is re-usable. Much easier and quicker.
Any response would be most appreciated as I am trying to do as much maintenance myself. Don't trust anyone and need to keep costs low.

friction modifier is to be used in clutch type limited slips. it promotes the clutches to slip instead of grabbing. the rear diff would be the only one that the factory equipped as an option. if in doubt you dont know if you have a lsd in the rear put the stuff in there anyway as it wont hurt. and i have never seen a re-usable diff cover gasket. all i have used were paper type. adn i prefer ultra slicone gray or black.

ya i was gunna say i havent ever seen a reusable diff gasket either they dont even make them it permatex rubber like the 12 valve valve cover gaskets. i just use whatever type of sylicone i got laying around, RTV blue, clear hell i will even use houshold GE silicone 1 door and window sealer if its sitting close by
