Default difference between 93 12v and 94 ?

I have a 93 12v cummins but all the upgrades seem to be for the 94 and up. I know some parts are interchangeable but what can i do to get the maximum hp and torque out of what Ive got and about how much hp will it be?

You got a 1st gen. The Classic Hot Rod of The Diesel World! The good thing is hat these 1st gens are pretty easy to make good power with!

The big difference between the 93 (1st Gen 12V) and the 94 (2nd Gen 12V) is the injection pump. The 1st Gens use a VE-Pump. The 2nd Gens use the P-Pump. Both are real easy to work on and get power out of. The P-Pump will make more though. The VE record right now is about 650HP. There are alot of people that make over that with P-Pumps... ALOT

What are you goals for the truck? What tranny? Is it gonna be the engine you want to use to swap into your F350?

Thanks for the reply. I think its the one Im going to use. Im getting all the info I can on them but... I do already have this motor. Theres no way of putting the p-pump on the 93 motor? Even buy changeing the covers and such? How about running the dual pumps on it?

you are going to need a complete front cover, timing gears, and p-pump, thats nice is that you already got the 12mm injector head so you dont need the adapters, if you look around you may be able to either sell the complete VE engine or trade it for a p-pump engine........if its going in a F-350 you are going to want a p-pump engine.......its just a better motor to start with........

x2 on all acocounts. I would not waste my time swapping to a P-Pump. Your better off just getting a P-Pumped Engine to start with.

What about the wireing on the p-pump motor? Is it pretty much the same as the other? I,m thinking about useing the tranny thats in my truck now. 4r100 but it probably wont hold the hp of what Im wanting out of the cummins.(some where around 600) Anything anyone particularly knows about this swap, feel free to advise me.

Welcome to the Forum.

Wiring is not that hard when it comes to a P Pump engine. As for your trans your going to need a rebuild kit. It will hold up to the power just expensive.
