Default Clutch

ok guys heres a million dollar question for ya will a 13" ceramic 6speed conversion valair clutch with the hd hub uprgrade rated at 650hp and 1200 ftlb be bale to withstand a 3rd gear 4-hi 10psi boosted launch with all my upgrades? i have been able to do 10psi boosted 2nd gear 2wd launchs all the time but have been to scared to try a 3rd of a 4x4 boosted luanch. the reason im asking is my dad has a 07 ford f-350 v10 fully stock and lifted, he thinks he could beat me in the quarter. next spring when the track opens were racing and i want to make it count by going all out

the input shaft i am somewhat worried about but not a hole lot its the clutch it has a 3600# custom orderd pressure plate, ive never had a problem with it slipping or anything else its just the money situation with getting a new clucth

did you have to upgrade the input shaft when you put this clutch in to 1 3/8" shaft?? With 3600# plate pressure you should be fine i would say, what did valair design this clutch for (towing, racing, etc??)

ya when installing the dual disk you have to upgrade from a 1 1/4 to an 1 3/8. the clutch was designed for racing

revised its a 3400# pressure plate not a 3600#, wonder if upgrading to a 3800# pressur eplate would make a difference

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

it is a single disk clutch

woops i just read that i didnt upgrade to a 1 3/8 you have to though for a dual disk i still have the stock 1 1/4 input shaft in it now

I would not recommend 3rd Gear boosted launches with ANY Single Disk Clutch. There just not designed to take that kind of abuse. If 2nd or 3rd Gear boosted launches is what your after save your money and get a DD.
