Which brand? You have to be careful that it has the correct additives, mostly to deal with the soot.
I think you are better off with a 10W30 for diesel applications.
Check out Exxon XD-3 Extra 10W30 - its good to -33C. Their 30wt is only good to -24:

It even approved for use in Cummins engines!
