Default Chance To Talk Me Out Of It

I thought I would give everyone a chance to talk me out of this before I go and trade my truck.

So,
I'm thinking about trading the '98 12 valve in on a chevy. No one was really interested in buying the dodge so I figure trading will be the easiest way to switch trucks. I've been looking at a '98 6.5 2500 that I could swap a 4bt into if the 6.5 crank gives out. I'm also looking at a '04 GMC ccsb w/ 6 speed manual. I know the dmax is a much better engine **Edit: dmax better than the 6.5**and the gmc is a much nicer truck**Edit: GMC nicer than the chevy or dodge** but I'm not sure if I want the extra debt from buying the dmax.

Ok so lets hear everyone's opinions.

im assuming your saying the DMax is better than the 6.5 and not better than the Cummins, the only thing i would say is your going to get jack for your truck because they are not sellin right now. is it possible to keep your truck and buy a new one and use the 12v as a weekender....my opinion would be if your going to trade it in trade it in on a new dodge

Not sure, I haven't taken it by to get an offer yet ... but I'm sure it will be much less than it's worth.

no point in trading in a 12 Valve for a crappy 6.5 even though you might put a 4BT because your basically going to end up with the same engine just with less power. i like the idea of buying the Duramax and keeping the 12 valve but that is more money. if you dont want the debt just keep the 12 valve and put some more mods on it

I'm with Woody, the 12V ain't gonna fetch much. So if it were me, I'd load on some mods, and forget about the D-Max. For how much debt you'd be in, you could throw on a Kore, Carli, Thuren, or Lorenz suspension to give you a better ride than the D-Max; a nice big Silver Bullet Turbo, DV's, Sticks, Fire Ring and Stud the Head; throw in a Dual Disk clutch with a big input shaft; put on a new steering box and all new Thuren linkage, and have yourself a truck that nobody else could touch! All for a lot less than the cost of a new D-Max, even with the value of the 12V traded in.
