Default Need 12V Help

Hey guys, Im heading to the local junk yards tomorrow to find a 12v.. Thing is, I have no IDEA what im lookin for.. Ive decided on a 95-97 block, P-Pump.. but heres my dilema.. I have no idea what to look for ..

Do any of ya'll have any pictures of stock 12v's? Id like to see P-Pump placement on the motor, and anything that would help me identify a GOOD motor. Anything in particular to look for?

The motor will be stripped down, and built from scratch. Again, Any pictures would be a great help, as Im a cummins dummy. Thanks guys!

I dont have many pics handy but I sure can take all you want.

This is a p-pumped 24V but the pump placement is the same on the 12V:

You might want to call around a bit before going - engines last forever and are pretty hard to find in the junkyards.

Happy B-Day. This will tell you what's what.
The only thing on the other side is a turbo and an oil filter.

Nope im pretty sure those years were rock solid, but if you get into 98' 12v's some of them did have the 53 block but you shouldnt have to worry about the blocks.

look at the timing cover between the head and the injection pump and make sure there are no busted spots or cracks in it as that means there has been a KDP failure.....

other than that if there isn't a piston or a rod hanging out the side, and the motor hasn't been sitting in the rain and the intake is full of water it should be good to go......

You're welcome man.

You're OK with a twelve valve. There are
different HP levels ranging from 160-215 hp.
The tag will tell you which of those pumps it is.
The 215 pump would be the most desirable if you
plan on competing with the truck. There's tons
of 450+ trucks out there with 160 pumps.
Good luck with your hunt.
