The wife has decided she wants a Mega cab for the family, and I have a short list of needed features and a slightly longer list of preferable features and I'm having trouble finding information on-line about when certain features were available or standard for each year.

The only musts are Mega cab and diesel, so this leaves me only considering 2500s and 3500s.

1. Middle front seat. Some have this, some have a console there, is it an option or were their certain years where this wasn't available?

2. Coil spring rear suspension. Any ideas when this happened for 2500s? What about 3500s? I know it was on the 2017 2500 at the dealer, but I can't afford that sucker.

3. Transmission. 66RFE/68RFE/Aisin ? I've only ever heard good things about the Aisin, but it seems rare, and I know nothing about the other ones. Are they good? Am I going to have problems? A manual is out of the question for the wife.

4. Engines. My only Cummins experience is with a 99 24v and a 95 12v, how are the new ones? Looks like you could choose between a 5.9 or 6.7 for awhile, then after another while they added that blue DPF stuff, I have no idea about any of it, what to look for or avoid?

Anything else to look for in the newer range? Thanks much for any help!
