Default 2000 Dodge 2500 Floor shifter won't budge

Going to check out a truck for sale tomorrow. Might be buying my first Cummins!
One big prob with the truck:
Owner says truck is stuck in 4 hi so he has been driving it without front driveshaft for a year now. Pretty big red flag to me. I'm guessing it needs a new t case.
I'm gonna check the linkage and see if I can dis connect it to check out the arm. Will I be able to move the shift arm on the transfer case by hand pretty easily?
I guess if this arm won't move then something is seriously wrong inside the T case.

Hopefully you can get under there and find out there's bind in the linkage and tell him it's screwed and get a good deal but if the linkage into the case is froze he probably messed the transfer case up bad playing in 4wd and running it with no axle shaft to the front end for a year straight will have no doubt been very hard on it regardless. If you can get it for the broken transfer case price and replace it it probably won't be that bad once it's fixed.

I wouldn't chance that either. sounds like a grenade the pin was pulled out and it's waiting to go off
