Default Aftermarket Exhaust Manifold ??

Who has changed the exhaust manifold on a 2006 5.9 cummins ? what changed and did you like it? I am leaning to the BD Pulse Manifold. I am looking for lower EGT's and mileage.

Kinda like to know myself. I went on the cheap and ported it myself, then I heat wrapped it as well as the hot side of the turbo. Turbo spools up much faster and also lowered EGTs a bit.

Factory ones need all the help one can give them .. porting will help a bit, but be careful you dont get outta control, you will kill some of your spool..

I hear ya. I took my time at this. A buddy of mine ported his with good success. He lent me his tools and gave me pointers as I did mine. I just didnt jump into it blindly. I likely would have f#*ked it up for sure. Im a cheap bastard. I hear good things about those aftermarket manifolds. If mine ends up cracking, then i'll likely get one myself, but its been a few years now and so far no cracks. I will usually pull the manifold blanket, after towing my travel trailer, and inspect for cracks. None so far tho.

If you are going to port your stock manifold, put gasket
over hole, color with marker. take gasket away and
grind away marker area. Just blend it in.

Thats what I did with My IDI's Exhaust man. , Now I'm doing HG's ( not related ) .. just waiting on gasket set ...

I put a 3 pc on my Cummins 12V, Made a world of difference in spool and reaction time... Turbo gets lit fast now ..

I should probably look into an aftermarket again. Im quite sure an aftermarket still outflows a ported stock by a substantial margin. Im sure I can recoup some of the cost if I put my ported stocker on ebay or craigslist. Time to so some research.........

The exhaust manifold will help some, but you will not see huge drops in EGT's by just replacing the manifold (maybe 50 to 75deg) The chip tends to run a little hot so you would see better drops in EGT's by doing a turbo or the intercooler.
