Cummins History

To my knowledge, Ford has owned Cummins for decades. You could get a Cummins powered Ford in Brazil I think for a few years.

that'll tell you all you wanna know, probably.

Cummins used to have in their investor relations FAQ that Ford does NOT own Cummins. Ford does own some stock, but not enough for a controlling interest. I will hunt down the share holder data in a bit and you will see that Ford is not even a top 20% stockholder in the company.
It is a rumor, so what if you can get a cummins in an F650, you used to be able to get a CAT too, does that mean ford owned CAT? We all know that ford didn't own International/Navistar. It's a stupid rumor spread by the ignorant.

This should end it...

Largest single shareholder holds ONLY 7% of cummins and it is NOT Ford.

Diesel Power Magazine even addressed it in one their issues about the biggest myths in the diesel community

Ford has never owned cummins....
but like previously pointed out the F650 does have the option of either a V10, powerstroke, cummins, or caterpillar engine.
so yes you can get a Ford with a Cummins in it, but not in a F250 or F350 unless it is done aftermarket...
In other news though: a Cummins will be available in the next gen Nissan Titan pickup!
they will be offering a 5.0L V8 Cummins Turbo Diesel optional engine in either the 2014 or 2015 Nissan Titan.
This is no rumor as it was officially announced by both Nissan and Cummins. It is rumored to be a 300hp diesel V8 for the light duty pickups. (too bad Dodge didn't jump on this for their 1500s and jeeps/durangos)
