Question Cruise control Problem

Hey all been with this site for awhile now but never posted ,but now I find my self with a issue on my 2004.5 Dodge ram diesel. When using the cruise control at set speed of any MPH it kicks out and will not engage again till the truck is turned off for a short period of time then once it has sat and restarted and the cruise set again it will work for a short time and kick out again, also if when using the cruise I hit the pause button and slow a bit then hit resume it will re engage and get up to set speed and as it gets to set speed kicks out again. This has just started within the passed month, I've changed both batteries thinking that there may be low voltage problem, but that did not help either. So now I'm stumped if there's anyone with some direction on this issue that would be very helpful. Sorry if I'm in the wrong section to be asking this question.

Thank you for any ideas or help. Retired J

Wow, That's weird. I would think it would be in the ecm or maybe in the controls. Welcome to dieselbombers. You live near me. I live in Puyallup.

there is another one coming up next month in spokane a few of the CF guys are going to...

Long as my truck stops acting up I might make an appearance there... probably won't run on the rollers though. Might get andrew to though with his truck...his compounds might be done by then.

I thank all that replied to my cruise problem, I broke down and called Cummins and they gave me some story that I would have to take it to a Dodge dealer so off to Tom Matson Dodge I went. There they found the vacuum pump running full time and a bad servo SPE at 137.55 for the part and another 300.00 for labor for a grand total of 484.60 tax and shipping. A lot of money but the problem is resolved, it would have been nice though to work with Cummins because my wife is a parts manager at a heavy equipment house and they have a acct. with them, but oh well.

Someone mentioned a event coming up in Spokane I'd sure like to hear more about that there's some of my friends and I that just might put that on the list of things to do.

So again thank you to all that replied. retired j

Have the same problem with my 04.5 I just don't use cruise. Would this cause any other problems elsewhere with the truck? I don't know much about the vacuum pump or cruise. If its not causing other problems, I don't think ill bother getting it fixed. I can live without it
