Default welding

is it bad to weld a exhaust hanger to a frame jw.And its actually just on the rear subframe i guess were the gas tank is bolted to about a 2 inch weld. Some say make frame weak

This is what im talking about you. You think any damage happened it did get red hot. But just a small weld.

It will be hardened in that area, and will be more prone to cracking compared to the rest of the sub frame. I doubt you will ever have an issue though.

bummer i do got a 5th wheel welded in so should also work as a cross member so who knows. I told them not to do it to the frame so they did it to the crossmember geez.

depends on who you talk to....ive got my certifications for welding and the text book answer is not reccomended will harden and create a "soft spot". my opinion is go for it iver done it multiple times and never once had an issue. hope this helps!
