cummins 1st to sec gen moter swop
hi i am new to the group and new to diesels. i have a 94 ram with a 360. on a trip to yankee lake i over heated it and the moter dosent sound so good.so i picked up a 5.9 cummins and a 518 tranny out of a 93. what i would like to know is if i order moter mounts for a 94 ram with a 5.9 cummins will it bolt wright in. also i plan on puting a bigger turbo and injecters. what would you recamend. id like to be around 400 streetable hp.
I think they will or the 360 motor mounts are similar to a cummins. But is it a 2500? or a 1500. Im not 100% sure. But before mods, get a good set of guages, and we cant tell you what mods to do because there are different variants of Cummins Engines do you have a 12 valve with the VE pump or the P-Pump or a 24 Valve, but I assume you have a 12 valve since its simpler to swap
if you trying to stuff a diesel into 1/2ton isn't gonna fly the engine has to much weight to it and if the engine is 12v is 1st gen, cause i had 91 D250 diesel and if you look at the D150 the step in the front end is set up alot diffent there more support for the diesel then a gas engine would need
well i plan on geting a 3/4 ton extended cab with a bad moter or somthing. for right now im going to youse my rusty 1/2 ton reg cab to mock every thing up. i was thinkig about geting a dana 60 front diff out of a chevy and cuting the spring purches off and welding the coil spring stuff on to it. that way i can youse the 205 t case and 14 bolt rear diff i all ready have.allso its a 12 valve with a ve pump. i picked up the hole drive train for 750 it was 15 minuts frome my house.other wise i would of just waited till i found a secend gen moter.
