5.9 or 4th gen 6.7
Hello.
I just registered to the forum but ive been on this site for quite some time now just reading the threads.
I would like some opinions. I got a 03 F150 that has got some major issues.. its probably worth 5k. I got spark plug problems and the thread on the head is messed up so it will need to be replaced.. not to happy to spend 2k+ to fix it. So I'm just going to go ahead and get a cummins.
I use my dads 08 F250 for work. We haul mini excvators, skid steers, tractors, and a bunch of rebar/forms.. I figured that the truck will pay for itself since I'll be able to use it both for work and well my personal truck.
With time ive piled up a good sum of money to help out so that my monthly payments are alright.
What I would like to know is any input on the 5.9's and the 2010+ Cummins.
I dont want to sign away my life to a truck but man I really like the new 4th gens. I kinda don't want to spend over 30k but im pretty sure a 10' will be hard to find in that price range. I think id be more comfortable getting a 5.9 05-07ish? for maybe 20-25k with a decent amount of miles. I dunno.. id just feel better since with 30k it could go up to 35k after taxes and title.. license plates all that stuff.
What would you guys do?
Oh and I wanna g56
Im pretty much truckless so life sucks for me right now. Whatever something, yolo.
Any input is greatly appreciated Thanks!

Ahhh my web browser is so full of a bunch of tabs i got separate windows from the 5.9 and 6.7.
I was kinda planning of buying something in december but since this happened, stuff got crazy. Hopefully I'll get something by this weekend I got a buddy to let me borrow his truck for the rest of the week..
So i'd be alright with a 5.9? Im thinking something i can be good with and affordable, and maybe get a brand new one.. one day. Probably after college
Plus I like how the 5.9's sound
I drove a 2012 6.7 it was awesome but uhhh 40,000 dollars wasnt that awesome for me...
I dunnoooo what ta doo

Well if you are going to be towing the 6.7 and the VGT have an integrated exhaust brake plus you can put a real engine compression release brake on the 6.7 aka Jake Brake. The 6.7 deleted is nothing more than a bored over 5.9. My next purchase will be a 6.7 for sure!
You don't have to get a 4th gen body style to have the 6.7.....

i have 03 that i tow with i've done a few mods to so it gets alright mpg with/out a trailer depending on how it's driven, if i were you i would say away from 07-09 6.7's ,03 up 06 are good, 07 is still the 5.9 (95%) of the time, but that year they changed the body with those ugly headlights but other then that it's great and for the 6.7's i go 2010-newer if you wanna spend that much, i only ever towed with a 5.9 i've driven a 08 6.7 never towed with one, but it does thinks way faster then my 5.9 does witch i like.
