2500 vs. DRW 3500
Hi there, been looking for a 2nd gen 2500 ECLB and been noticing some good/better deals as in lower mileage and price on more then a few 3500 ECLB DRW out there, I know a 2500 would be enough truck for what I need but bigger is better, right? I'd rather have to much truck then not enough but how much fuel economy, upkeep, and everyday drivability (besides the obvious size difference) would I be loosing or gaining in going with a 3500 DRW? Any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks
In california, driving a DRW can be a PITA sometimes. But only because of other drivers. If you cant justify the extra tread, dont do it. What im saying is, if you dont need the extra capacity, the money you save on a DRW setup now, you will pay back in tires. I dont drive my truck much, so my next truck will be a DRW so that i can haul a heavy toyhauler legally.
It all comes down to towing. If you tow heavy loads it is worth it. adds a lot of stability, especially in corners. I tow 20k plus a lot so i would not trade my dually. if I did not tow a lot it is no question--i'd go SRW! easier to park, less rolling resistance etc.
In the second gen 12v trucks are the front end parts more expensive then 2500 front end parts? I was gonna buy a 97 3500 DW 5 speed and convert it but the guy sellinf it backed out on me. just a question I have
