the inside of the getrag
well as some of you i rebuilt my tranny i took a few pics and here is a little advice on rebuilding.........

when it is time to remove the counter shaft (page 22-55) tap the shaft as a whole to knock
the rear race out other wise the snap ring will come out hard and you will probably bend it all up if you need new snap rings go here (blumenthals (888) 236-4800) 15.00 plus shipping
when using a press WHERE SAFTY GLASSES AND PAY ATTENTION if you start applying 1 ton or more of force your doing it wrong
when using the bearing puller DONT PULL ON THE OUTSIDE of the GEAR TEETH get full contact with the base
page (22-58) fig 23 MAKE SHURE YOU NOTE THE WAY IT CAME OFF
page (21-63) fig 34 you dont have to heat this just tap it on with a hammer and drift
the 3-4 and 5-reverse syncro assemblies (page 21-67) dont drop them dont move them hell dont even look at them if you pop the ***** and springs out figure about 45min-hour to reassemble use oil soluble white grease to hold ***** springs and detentes then put a large zip-tie just tight enough to hold them in then slide ring over pushing the zip-tie off
use liberal amounts of the white grease when instaling the brass syncro rings other wise they can stick and break
page (21-70) shimming this transmission requires bearing preload read this page then reread this page i used .081 in shims on the countershaft and .040 on the main use a depth gauge to measure a set of calipers works too measure 180* apart and do it twice
bench shift your trans before you put it in just use a screwdriver and if it is hard on the bench it is perfect when you put on the 2 foot shifter
before you put the shifter put in 5 qrts of a good 5-30 synthetic amsoil,redline,royal purple whatever
