Turbo shaft play help!!!
So this weekend I installed my bhaf and made a heat sheild for it while the hose was off i noticed the shaft in the turbo has play in it. The fins are not rubbing the turbo is not making noise or anything it still wines up (can hear the turbo whine alot more with the bhaf sounds awesome love it) and can still feel the boost come on. I am worried about the play. My question is can i rebuild it myself, get a new one or what dont want to let it go too long the only thing is on a tight buget for a new one right now. So i thought rebuild might be the way to go? or do i just baby it a while will it be ok since it is not rubbing and just keep an eye on it so that it doent get worse. maybe a used one at the junkyard? and what do they go for new and used average? Thanks guys any help greatly appreciated.

you can get a rebuild kit for 40 bucks so if you have some knowledge in automotive than it will be easy

I dont have much play up and down it feels like about that much.
Thats what i wanted to know if i could rebuild one. and i do have some automotive knowledge i worked in a general autmotive shop for 9years am a ASE cert tech. but never messed with turbos much as far a rebuilding them just replaced with new or remans.
and i didnt think that up and down play was allowed with them

end play min .001
max .003
radial clearance min .012
max .018
this is out of section 10 b series shop manual
the kits are fairly cheap, and they are not that hard to rebuild, just take your time.
