Innovative Customs does the frame splice under the cab like the shop in Texas and the shop in Indiana does. The shop in Indiana is who TDR recommends because one of their project trucks was converted at their shop. However, that shop doesn't provide pickup beds. The customer has to provide the new bed. Precision Bodyline does the frame splice over the rear axle like Go Big Garage(Seabee's shop) does.

Default Seabee-Mega cab conversions

Thanks Scott, besides just finding out about Seabee's conversions, I didn't know about the 3rd shop in Indiana. Do you have contact info for Seabee's shop in California? The posts I saw were a little dated - is he still around and doing the conversions? Do you have any knowledge/experience with his conversions and their quality and longevity? Thanks!

I know.... I know..... why not just go buy a Mega Cab and have this done, but i love my truck.
Hey bud there is always the Alton Company ( Alton Truck Manufacturing Company ) . They are the ones that did the original Mega Cab Big Red for Kelderman . It started out as a regular quad cab and they added 12 inches to the cab of it.

As far as I know, that shop that Seabee ran doesn't even exist any more. However, I do know of a shop in northern California in the greater Sacramento area that will be offering the conversions soon. Can't give away any more details on it yet but I will once I get the go-ahead.

Thanks for your reply Scott. I had read that Seabee is in the military. He posted a few years ago that he had just come back from overseas and had to open his shop back up. Does anyone know if he is again, on active duty elsewhere, or if he just shut his shop down and isn't doing the conversions anymore?

As far as the NorCal shop is concerned, any idea when they will be starting conversions so I can check back with you at that time? Do you know if they will be cutting mid-frame or at the axle? Thanks!

I can't really say anything as of right now on when the shop in NorCal will be starting the conversions. One thing I do know is one thing that will set this shop apart from the other conversion shops is they will be giving the customer the choice on where the frame splice is done. If the customer wants it done above the rear axle, it will be done there. If the customer wants it done under the cab, it will be done there. I will either start up another thread on it once I get the go-ahead or update this one. Just keep a close eye on this site.

Scott, I forgot to ask you again - did you ever see Seabee's conversions to assess the quality versus the other shop's work? Seeing as how this NorCal shop will just be starting the conversions, in your estimation, would it still be better to go with a shop that has done a lot of these already? For shops that do frame stretching, is this conversion difficult or run-of-the-mill concerning preserving frame strength, etc.? Thanks!
