Default J and H event

Hey all!

Made it back in town with just enough time to make the J and H race up in Redding. Who's going?

Also, anyone in the Sacramento area that wants to meet up, we are caravaning about 4 or 5 trucks up together, so come on if you want to. Meet at the shop at 6-6:30, be gone by 7am.

My wife and I are coming and a buddy of mine who is considering buying a diesel sometime in the near future will be trailing us...we are going to be staying at Rick's tonight then rolling out with him in the morning. We are meeting up with you as well, if I'm not mistaken!

Had a great time, even though we didn't do very well. What a mess!

A HUGE thanks goes out to Rick (Runamuk) for helping us out of a bind. About 3pm on friday (this is always when the crap hits the fan) I decided that the studs on the #5 injector were optional. I caught one with my ratchet. Broke off, Industrial says no good, have to replace the solenoid. Can't find one locally, can't even find a core injector to borrow for a day. Nothing. So, we were dead in the water running on 5 cylinders.

So, as a last resort, I call up Rick, who after I explained the situation, brought his truck over, (that he WAS going to drive to the event) and allowed me to cannibalize one of his injectors to make the truck complete. How cool is that?

As for the rest of the story, well, we got Ricks truck about 10pm. I had one of my guys installing headstuds while I pulled Ricks injector apart. Installed the injector, and everyone went home to get ready for the event. Myself and one of my buddies (soon to be DB member) stayed up to finnish the studs and install the new dual feed line from Industrial Injection. We also needed to wash the truck, polish the stacks, clean off the trailer, hook it up, and load all our tools to take with us. Oh, and I still needed to weld up the Sled Pulling Hitch I was going to need . . . .
So, it was a long night. People started to filter into the shop about 6am to load out and we were still cleaning off teh trailer, truck not washed, no tools loaded, and no hitch. I jumped on the hitch and got that done in record time and we then discovered the borrowed trailer was about a foot too short, after the truck was loaded. NOw we had to get permission from one of my customers to use his 30' gooseneck and his F550 (Cummins powered) to haul us up there. Got that, loaded it, quick shower, off to the races, having not slept at all.
Things didn't get any better. With the new dual feed, we had to totally reset the chip, and the Smarty just wasn't playing nicely. I guess I downloaded the wrong update or something, Bob Wagner and I spent about 2 hours messing with it before we just ditched it and decided to race TST only. Track staff would not allow any passengers on test and tune passes. So, had to go outside the track to dial in the TST. FInally got it dialed in, went to Dyno - 459hp. WTF???? Ran it on the track, 14.1. WTF??? Back on the street. No smoke hardly, laggy, falls flat at 2800rpms. Spend at least 2 hours ttrying to figure it out when Brandon (who thankfully got some sleep after leaving the shop the previous night) figured out the TST was getting too hot and shutting down. By that time the damage had been done. We iced the TST box down to cool it off, removed the drivers side headlight and mounted the box there so it would stay cool. Too late, TST is dead. Where it was mounted under the hood and all the idling and the hot weather it just got too hot. Tried to bum one, no one had one, had to throw in the towel and load it back on the trailer."give: That sucked.

So, long story, rough weekend, but we all had a great time and I want to say thanks to my crew, who all worked hard to get us there and try and get it to go.
