I organize our clubs two annual shows and can tell you that you will NOT be able to police everyone and there will be some who do get out of hand. The problem is its the small faction that does get out of hand that gets more ink than those who just come and enjoy a good show.We have even had issues with some who come to our shows. One year we had a guy drunk, acting stupid and slid through a stop sign and hit a vehicle on a major US route.Tore up his then new CR truck and screwed up a Cummins Dually. Then there was the drunken prison guards the other year who got tougher with each beer they consumed and made azzez of themselves.

With that being said if you can stop all the issues from happening then I will tip my cap to you but my years of experience in doing these shows tells me that it will not happen.......Andy

After putting on 4 annual weekend car show/campouts with a car club I belonged to and ran for 3 of the 10 years it was around I have to agree with Hammer.

It is a monumental task to say the least, but (and I can't believe I am saying this) NO BOOZE is one of the best way to keep a lid on things, not to mention that will protect the organizers from a contributing to minors scenerio.

It's a bummer that some can't control themselves so that all may have a good time.

Ha nice..... I was just reading a thread about thieves at TS so I went out and checked and my 6" drop hitch is gone! Mother ..... Its was in the bed of my truck so they had to be in the damn thing. They left my cooler full of "soda" though. I had one of those stolen at a pull b4 too. I hate people

Nothing like an ice cold "soda"

This was my first major diesel event and I can say it was prbably my worst.

I've put on my share of large events, Just policing the events help ALOT, works alot better then just letting them do what they want, were did I say we would not have problems? All I said is that people acting like asshats will leave. We are in disscussions about the no drinking thing now.

I agree with the policing thing. Before I got into diesels, I was pretty heavy into the classic car show scene. Some of the shows around here would have over 1000 cars attending, with a large portion of them cruising up and down the center of town all day non-stop.

The organizers would first lay down the ground rules as far as obeying ALL traffic laws, especially alcohol consumption. Made it clear that one warning for a minor traffic-related infraction, after that, you were expelled without a refund. There was no warning for major screw-ups or alcohol. You got caught, you were gone.

They would have the club members ride around in golf carts, just keeping an eye on things. They weren't being prickish. If you wanted to BARK the tires of your 10 second '67 Camaro when you left a stop light, that's fine. Open headers? No problem! 8000 rpm hole-shot with 10,000 men, women and children standing on the sidewalks? Sorry. You just assed up and would be removed WITHOUT an invite for next year.

It sux to have to keep people on a leash like that, but that's what has to be done so the event runs smoothly, to get the chance to hold your event there next year and to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
