Hello MN!
Hey guys just wanna give ya a heads up we will be movin there in June. We bought a fishing resort in baudette.ITs Called Ken Mar Ke, (will be renamed in june) right off of lake of the woods. Is anybody around that area? We cant wait to move, what beautiful state!
I do have a few questions tho for ya tho...
Lift Laws.... i heard a vehical cant be liftd no more than 6 inches. I have a 6 inch lift with 37" tires. am i disobeying the law?
Snowmobiling- I tracked these sleds all the way back to Southern WI. haha it seems to me that as long as your on the easement your fine. i could be wrong.
Atv- is this the same as snowmobiling? are permits required for atvs-rhinos-ect?
This i all i could think of now, but im sure more will be sprung up!
Thanks
Nick

I live in Barnesville and just looked at mapquest and you will be almost 5 hours away. I moved up here from SC less than a year ago and haven't had the joy of dealing with the DMV yet. I don't see where the cops will mess with ya though. My windows are darker than the law allows and have been running SC tags up here since last Feb. and they don't even look twice in ND or MN. I've also seen trucks with higher lifts than your and they say they've never been bothered.
As far as snowmobile and four wheeler trails, they are everywhere. I do know that they have to be licensced in order to run on them, I just don't know all the specifics on it. On your own property though, you don't have to do anything.

It's always been explained to me that in this state you're not supposed to increase your vehicle height by more than 6 inches total- that includes tires. Most people don't get hassled at all. I know a dude running 40s on the street and he is never even looked at funny. Pay attention to your bumper height (25 inches) and how far your tires stick out if you want to increase your odds of being left alone. I would bet that up where you are you really don't have anything to worry about. Just drive something else if you're heading out to party at night.
I would PM 95ram and get his take on your specs. He's a state trooper and he'd know better than anyone on here.
You can pretty much run a snowmobile anywhere that you're not trespassing. ATVs are a whole other dilemma. You can't ride them in the ditches in most counties and there are a lot of snowmobile trails that you don't even think about running an ATV on, winter or summer. You'll need a permit for any of them. I'd check out the MNDNR and their ATV laws about the Rhinos and such. I don't think they are allowed on any trails but could be mistaken.
About the closest riding area I can think of for you is the Iron Range OHV ( Minnesota ATV/OHV Riding on the Iron Range ) in Gilbert. It's a good time but it's a bit of a drive for you. I'm sure the locals up that way must have something. You're about 4 hours from Brainerd which has world class drag racing.
Welcome to MN. Congrats on the new biz and good luck.
