Ford Cummins swap test drive
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to my questions during this swap process..
Still have a couple little things to finish but for the most part its done.. Took it out Sat afternoon for the first time and was very impressed with the power and drivabilty of the first gen cummins and NV4500 trans with the 3.54 axles. I have done an injector up grade, rebuilt turbo 12cm turbine housing with 60mm compressor housing and wheel, and new exhaust manifold and have not touched the pump yet.
I have already had a guy beggin me to sell it to him, i told him to build his own..
Thanks again for the support. I am sure I will have more ????????

Just curious, did you use a ford np205 t-case? If so, Did you buy the advanced adapters nv4500 to ford np205 adapter? Im in the process of a 12v/nv4500 swap in a 78 f250. I would like to use the originaln np205 gear driven t-case but I can pick up a dodge 241dhd t case for less than the adapter costs...

Yes I used a NP205 T-case but cant remember where the adaptor came from, advanced sounds right. I had bought the rebuilt NV4500, 205 and south bend clutch as a package deal. was going to go with the dodge T-case but the guy that built the tranny suggested the 205 just for the simple fact that my speedometer cable would plug in since its an 1985.
Will try to post some pics.....
