1985 Chevy K30 CCSB Cummins repower...maybe
So I am contemplating putting in a 12v into my 1985 Chevy K30 CC. Questions?
1. Has anyone used on had experience with Auto World MT engine crossmember/mounts? Any issues with that product? How far back did it set the motor?
2. Correct me if I am wrong. From my research on this and other sites by
a) Installing a CAI
b) Replacing the fuel plate
c) Installing a larger free breathing exhaust
Your increasing the hp by??? At how many horses does the reliability and fuel mileage start to decrease?

The one thing that annoys me somewhat in using the Cummins is the loud resonance (from a stock motor) in the cab at 60 - 70 mph. Any way to cut that done without killing the free flow exhaust?

the best thing you ever do to that chevy is put a cummins in it......not only the power gain but the steering is also 100% better the cummins uses a gear driven power steering set up....no more wandering or squealing belts, or chattering turns........as for noise at traveling speeds you cant here it....use lots of floor padding and it is nice. i can even have a conversation while driving.
I use a 4" exhaust from end to end with a 4" flowmaster with stacks...i also run a side pipe once in a while, saves on cleaning the 5thwheel,and it is the same other than the echo off of objects....
where are you at

Definitely be putting in a 12v into this thing. My heart is torn. Just wish that GM did with the 6.5 what AM General is doing now. Well that's over now and time to move on. I need the reliability, fuel mileage and then power...in that order. So now its time to cut out the engine cross member and then get my new one. A few other things have to be done as well.
So with a Cummins 12vb swap, I would use a Dodge flywheel, pp, disc, bellhousing. I plan on using a GM NV4500 with the Dodge input shaft along with a NP 241. With the Auto World crossmember and engine mounts the engine sits back farther. So far so good. The question comes up to the master cylinder and slave cylinder. I am planning on using a Dodge slave cylinder for obvious reason.
Is the Chevy (73-87) clutch master cylinder up to the task?
