Default 6.7L Cummins into 1st Gen Dodge

Wantin to put a 6.7L Cummins into my 91.5 Regular Cab Long Bed 4x4 Dodge, how much trouble would I have? I know a junk yard where I can get a running 6.7L motor and 6-spd auto trans and wire harness at a decent price but then I want to do all the deletes and transmission upgrades by either suncoast or ATS and use H&S tunning and parts. Anyone think this would be a beast??

Well just the motor was $3,500 with the turbo and other parts but im gonna use a custom radiator from RND fab but not sure on trans maybe $750 but i know a place i can get a complete rebuilt 6.7 long block for $4,500 but no turbo or anything.

Ohhh okay i'm doin somemore research in it and planning and money saving

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Would i have much clearance issues? Like with the hood, radiator, firewall and well everything else? I plan in using a custom aluminium radiator and electric fans and bigger intercooler also

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Also what would i do about matchin up the transfer case to the newer 07-12 auto trans??

I wouldnt think there would be much of a size difference, considering both the 5.9 block and 6.7 block were used in the same truck. Its only a .19" bigger bore on each cylinder for the 6.7. Even if it is considerably longer, using electric fans will make up for any size difference. Those first gens had tall hoods also, I can't see that being a problem.

the 6.7 and 5.9s are allmost exactly the same size, infact a 5.9 head will fit a 6.7 block so the engine will fit just fine. since 2 days ago efi just released the DTC tables for the 5.9 and 6.7 that would make the swap alot easier because you could turn off some of the stuff you wont be using including the dpf and egr

your going to need the complete engine wiring and some of cab wiring from the doner truck as well as the doner truck's APS/pedal. you will also need an engine plate from a first gen 5.9

it can be done just wont be easy

I didn't think there would be alota clearance issues either because under the hood of these first gen's there's ALOTA room! Also under the cab so I don't I'll have trouble with the trans either and I plan to do ALL the delete's on the motor with 5 inch turbo back straight, EGR delete with all H&S parts that they make for the 6.7L and A dumb question but I should be able to run a Black Maxx programmer shouldn't I? If I get everything wired up right to the ECM and all that?? And another thing inless I can get a custom made drive shaft I'll probly have to use the rear end outa the donor truck too huh? For the driveshaft to bolt up to the newer trans and the older rearend of the 1st gen.

Will he need the key from the truck and the anti-theft gem to run it?

I'd go with Goerend for building the trans... and probably run as far away from ATS as possible.

I would use the h&s parts but i wouldnt use their tuner for this. Efi will be much better suited for this swap because of the dtc disable features for all of the other things besides just the egr/dpf that will be missing.

He shouldnt need the key because the anti theft features are part of the BCM not the ECM and hes going to have to set the ECM up like a stand alone

Getting drive shafts made is easy. Which trans are you planning to use behind it?
