new to the modification world, please help
never been much for modifying trucks, but now id like to give it a go. can you guys give me the top three things i could do to my f350, 7.3, to get nice smooth running power and maybe better mileage. im not doing truck pulls or anything like that. i would like to power up a bit more though and also, get better mileage. remember, im just learning, so please be specific and i will take your advice and get these things done right away. then ill post pics and results to show you guys what i did with your info. im pumped to learn this stuff, as im gonna teach my son. thanks a bunch.
im surprised nobody has really replied much to your post!!
if you want to make that 7.3 sound like it should then you should really take a look at an MBRP turbo back exhaust. either dual tips, or dual stacks. i can tell you from experience a set of 6" stacks on a 7.3 sound very mean!!
as far as programmers go, is your truck an automatic or a standard? if it is an automatic go to Innovative Diesel Performance and check out the custom tunes. these can get you better gas mileage, or at the touch of a button you can have an extreme HP tune! also they have tunes for towing. they will custom tune it to your truck specifically, so it will shift the transmission at different points than it does stock! look for the SCT livewire tuners.
if you arent interested in all that, you can get a regular banks or edge tuner. banks also has packages with exhaust, programmers, and intakes all in one package if you are interested in this.
not sure how much cash you are talking about here but basically the performance you will get out of these modifications depend completely on the cash you want to spend. can be as simple as a snap-on intake, or as complex as a compound turbo setup, bigger injectors, etc...
sorry to ramble on just trying to give you tons of options! i'm not a professional either, as i'm only 18 and ive been into this for a little over a year, so i'm a newbie too :p
