6.0 PSD in a 2002 F150 4x4
i have an idea, i was thinking a 4bt cummins in my f150 but here recently ive been thinking about a 6.0 in my truck. i know it would be a task but wouldnt it bolt right to my frame? because i was thinking that if they put them in the f250's and they put the 5.4 in the f250's (the same motor in my truck) that it could bolt up with little motification. i dont want to buy a new truck because its paid off but i think it would be bad a$$ to see my truck with a gooseneck on it please give me your opinions. it needs a new front end anyway so a SAS wouldnt be too much more. just a hellavlot more time consuming
the 6.0 isnt a normal swap into anything and i think i coulld pick one up fairly cheep

They never put a 6.0 in the light duty f250. The superduty and heritage f150 are two completely different animals. Your ifs front would prob have to go, along with your tranny and rearend. I'd give ya an A+ if you could pull her off though, be quite a sleeper. Even the 4bt would require a lot of changes to your truck but that's what I would use, alot more reliable, better mileage, can make big power for a 4 banger and no electronics

Well heres my dream, straight axle, 20x10 black rims wrapped in 35s on 3/4 ton axles with 3/4 ton springs all around. Boxed frame, lifted 6 inches
And Yeah I have heard the horror stories of the 6.0 but I think it could work. Im just dreaming I guess. From what ive heard the 4bt can get pricey but so can the 6.0
I'd love to cram an old 12valve in there. I just want to freak the gasstation attendants out when I fill up
And yeah the ifs will go because I've always hated it!!!
Can someone give me some prices on a 4bt, 12 valve, and a 6.0
Whatever it is will have a standard tranny.

12V would probably be the simplest and easiest and cheapest. You could get a 6BT, with a dodge trans hooked up behind it already and throw it in.
The cost is really going to come down to what you want to make for power.
The 6.0 would be the best performer stock for stock with any of them obviously. If you had the motor out already (obviously if you're putting it IN a truck) it would be a great time to bulletproof the 6.0 too, and quite easy with the motor right there.
They have stuffed 6.0's into rangers a few times now, and there's even a parallel turbo 6.0 in a honda civic hatch floating around somewhere too.
Everyone does the cummins swap, I think the 6.0 would be awesome. Or if you want an inline 6 that makes the cummins look like a toy, go for a DT360.
None of this will be "direct bolt in" at all, though getting the engine bolted in will probably be the easiest part of the project.

the 6.0 would cost more up front, ive seen nice running trucks from 10,000 to 15,000. and nice broke down trucks from 5000 on up. and again i bet someone could use a new cab or bed and all the other crap i dont need.
i still really want to go the cummins way becuse of the mechanical injection and i could buy a decently priced doner truck with almost everything i need. except axles (theres a substancal diffrence in price from a D to a W)
if anyone has any leads on a good running first/second gen cummins for CHEEP! please let me know
Thanks for everyones advice so far
if anyone else has opinions im open to everything, i want to hear what yall think.
when i get started ill make a build thread
thanks Justin
