Here's the deal I got myself a f26e fuel tank for my 92 ford and what i really want to do is put a 90 degree fitting on the bottom to feed my airdog. There is a perfect spot where the tank goes down almost almost as a sump would be (shallow I know). So what kind of fitting would I use that would be diesel tight? It would need to be a 90* fitting with a 1/2 inch hose barb fitting but also need to be free from leaks. what y'all think?

 

The make a fitting just for this, look for a fuel tank bulkhead fitting. Now saying that, the 92 I just bought has one, it hangs low and it for the truck not being tall and it never seeing anything put pavement I would have removed it, way to easy to hit on something. The fuel tank is at the PERFECT location to get hit by a high center. At stock height this could happen in a parking lot with a steep approach from the road. I used a draw straw on my 89 and was very happy with it.

 

I don't think i have a height issue, a 1 ton 4x4 with a 4 inch lift so there I should be good, ill look into the bulkhead fittings.

 

I looked into them, they look like a hydraulic fitting like we use at the ag dealership I work at. I asked some of the guys at work and they said to drill the hole put the fitting in snug and braze around it. What do ya think? I want to get this done so I can get my new airdog hooked up!

 

I think I may just buy a complete sending unit for it, and just modify it to work for me people are telling me that a fitting at the bottom is a bad idea
