I'm currently doing the same swap in my 97 3500 that had a 350 in it. Ask any questions you might have. I would be happy to share my story.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Ok to start out the truck Im working with is a 97 chevy 3500 4x4. It had a 5.7 gaser with a 4l80 tranny. I completely removed both motor and tranny and sold them. I cut all the gas engine related wires out along with the auto tranny wires. BESURE to leave the oil pressure wires, engine coolant wires, alt wires, and the needed wires for the speedo and 4x4. I also rasied the body on the truck 1 inch. Good old hockey pucks did the trick and I cut the 3 top bolts and tab on the front diff to get clearance along with the "V" shape bars on the front. The mounts came from Auto World. I do recommend the Quads. I also got the Chevy Alternator and pulley kit from Auto World as well. These make things alittle easier. The throttle cable I shortened with alittle time and skill. Fuel lines I cut and ran tube to connect the both. My truck had a hydro brake booster and it connected straight to the cummins with ease no mods needed. Oil pressure use the orginal GM sensor and get a adaptor to fit it in the cummins. As for the intercooler I have a 97 dodge intercooler with the the pipes. if you cut the front rad. support and turn the intercooler upside down it slicks right in. Now Im open for suggestions ideas and positive comments. This is what I have done so far and plan on updateing daily with what I figure out next. Again this is based off my story and what I have done these past 2 weeks with my free time. I will try and add pictures to help you all better understand. Oh yeah lastly the tranny Im useing is a Chevy NV4500 with dodge input shaft and bellhouseing. Ive removed the auto shifter off the steering col. 3 bolts very easy. the pedel I eyed the bolt holes and got it on the second try and it bolted right in. Im useing the dodge slave with a chevy master. Im being told that I may have to use a dodge or jeep master since the chevy my not be strong enough to fully disengage the clutch. The fly wheel and clutch are southbend. Enjoy!!

i got a 95 gmc scsb with 95 12v cummins nv4500 swap. i used chevy master and slave cylinder and the dodge line just had to slot the mounting holes on the slave, i have put about 10,000 on it like this with no issues

the reason is the difference in size on the pistons, I ran the stock chevy stuff but it didn't last, ended up putting a southbend hd one in for a dodge, the only modification was to drill the firewall and lengthen the throw arm on the master some.. another option is a early 90's ford master which is the same size as the dodge one and mounts easier.. then custom line and the dodge slave.. good luck..
