Default 4bt in a 95 f150?

Hi im new to this site and to diesels. I am looking to ditch my 5.0 in my 95 f150 4x4 extended cab and go with a 4bt with a zf5 manuel transmission. I think this is my best option since I dont do any towing, frame and suspension can handle the weight, and looking for better fuel mileage. Im getting rid of the E4od and installing the zf5. Is there going to be any issues with the transfercases doing this? I suppose I will also need an adapter plate to marry the engine and tranny together. Anyone who has done this type of swap or has any useful tips or suggestions they would be much appreciated. Thanks

i would suggest an nv4500 from a dodge,it will have the drivers side front diff drop, and you can use a stock dodge flywheel housing from a 5.9, which i think may be more readily available than the cummins to ford housing. also go get a stock ford manual pedal assembly and master cylinder, you can use the ford clutch set up with the dodge style slave cylinder.

If I use the nv4500 will there be any transfer case, or 4x4 issues that will need to be addressed? As far as motor mounts I would love to make my own but im not a welder; however, I heard you can use the motor mounts out of a step van (bread van) with little modifications needed. Any thoughts on this?

Just find you a dodge with the NV4500 and transfer case, use both, and the only thing you should have to custom make is both driveshafts. Im not an expert on the 4wd stuff, but it seems right to me.

Also if you want to go the route, I know companies sell motor mounts for the 5.9, and I would imagine they do for the 4bt too.

no matter what you do you will have to modify the trans crossmember, but it really isnt that hard.
