Interesting idea. It would certainly be unique. With a 240D 4 speed and a divorced t-case (I think the Sammi already has one doesn't it?), it should be quite do-able. The more common swap is a VW TD. Lots more power, less weight, more parts availability...

 

Do the 240D and 300D share the same bell-housing bolt pattern?
luke from 4x4labs is now making an adapter to bolt a toyota 4spd to the 300D.

I believe both the toyota landcruiser and sammi share a passenger-side drop front-output.

Yup. Bolting a 240D 4-speed up to a 300D motor is a common swap in the MB Diesel world - however vibration issues are also common...

 

Take it to the highest cliff possible an push it over , then buy a FORD
