S-10 Kubota Diesel Conversion
I cut out a hole in the valve cover, there is an indent at the front, and tapped it for pipe thread then used a pipe nipple and cap. For the dipstick I welded in an access in the pan I made from scratch, others have drilled in a hole in the side of the lower block for a tube.
Great thread here! I've read the whole thing and now I think I'm about ready to start my own build. i have a D21 4x4 that would be great for one of these little engines. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to pick up one of these di engines at a decent price?
Thanks FTE i think I will drill the block for the dip stick. I have a Kubota dip stick....not sure if i need some sort of tube to go in the hole in the block but i do have a dip stick haha. kt44nt Dennis at Diesel Repower sent me mine it was 1800 for the engine, new oil pan, and freight to st. louis mo. they are out of tennessee. I made my W/P pulley out of 2 pulleys, the original Kubota pulley for the center and then a serpentine outer welded together. I had to cut them apart on the lathe and then center them back up. I also had to machine the original Kubota crank pulley, add an aluminum spacer, and fit the chevy serpentine pulley to that. I think there are pics in the thread somewhere. Don't think you'll find off the shelf pulleys that will work.
Yep, I just have the one v-pulley driving the alt. It has a double groove and I am driving the p/s pump off of that with the vac pump driving off the snout of the p/s pump. It's a little "redneck" but it works great.
